The Estate
The vineyard is located in the Etna DOC appellation, in the village of Castiglione di Sicilia, Sicily, on the slopes of the volcano. It is located in the Contrada "Feudo di Mezzo"(premier Cru). The characteristic of this Contrada is that it is the largest of the denomination and also has different types of microclimate
.
Winemaking
Alcoholic fermentation : 20-25° for 7 days
Aging : 500 L barrel for 18 monthsAlcohol Alcohol content : 14%.
Production : 950 numbered bottles
Viticulture
Respect for traditional organic and biodynamic viticulture practices
The grape variety
The grape variety is Nerello Mascalese, an autochthonous grape variety of the region, it is a late ripening variety.
Wine Tasting
The colour is garnet with aromas of black cherry, licorice and tobaccon by the ageing process with a note of flintstone.
The palate is medium in structure and fresh with aromas of black fruits such as cherry and blackcurrant. The finish is persistent and mineral due to the volcanic soil.
